WELSH DRESSER

I bet not many people go all the way to Wales to take a photo of a Welsh Dresser! I liked the perspective of this shot but I know I got the lighting wrong as the window behind the plant is overexposed. I'm thinking I should have exposed for the light coming through the window and maybe used a little flash for infill. Any ideas welcomed!

  1. I love welsh dressers, I don't use a flash so can't help with that, I would have perhaps gone in closer and got just the dresser or you could crop out the window, I'm not very good at being helpful, sorry!

  2. I have no ideas, I have a similar problem shooting indoors, so I can't wait to see the advice - I just think it is a gorgeous shot!

  3. I like the effect of the overexposed window, but if you'd wanted to get rid of it, maybe you could have shot the dresser from the other side, so that the light was behind you. Then, of course, you might have lost a lot of that lovely light by casting a shadow onto the plates!

  4. Wonderful repetition of shape and form. Love the abstract nature of this.

  5. I like your thinking in this shot. The light is creating some interesting shapes on the plates. I like that effect. As you said you could have used a flash or bracketing and then doing some work in Photoshop. The easiest solution is probably touching up the highlighted area in whatever photo software you are using. Most have a brush which you could just tone down the highlighted area. There is no simple answer I'm afraid!
